You have found a home for resources, information and help with emotional feelings regarding your medical condition. Here at Life Beyond The Pain, I designed a site for you to access comprehensive information and services geared specifically for those with chronic medical conditions, including articles “From The Experts” and “Comments from Our Readers”. Having been a Life Coach for many, many years before I was diagnosed with two chronic medical conditions (first fibromyalgia, then atypical complex hemiplegic migraine), I undertook the complex and difficult task of reconstructing my life to live with these conditions. Through the ups and downs and struggles of rebuilding my life, I discovered that if I applied the knowledge and tools that I had as a Life Coach, I could once again have a fulfilling and constructive life. Sure enough, some of the things I used to enjoy I could no longer, but as I learned to deal with my medical conditions, many other God-given gifts replaced them. Had I not decided to live my life beyond the pain and discomfort, I would have continued to wallow in self-pity and live a very empty life filled with despair and hopelessness, all because of my medical conditions.
Does this sound like similar to experience you have or have had with your me dical condition? Depression, anxiousness, hopelessness, helplessness and/or feeling as though life is over is very, very normal. It is part of the grieving process our body and mind must go through while adjusting to our medical condition and the idea that this is not going to go away. My mission is to help you recognize what the “other side” looks like for you! It is different for everyone. You will be able to continue living as a unique and wonderful person who has much to contribute to life and others. You don’t believe that? Let’s look at some of the life changes that we can make to allow you to achieve that goal.
We will address the many life changes that your medical condition requires in the coming months to include sections on:
♦ Mental Fitness
♦ Nutritional modifications
♦ Exercise
♦ Inspiration
♦ Work
♦ Services that cater to your medical condition
♦ Money and insurance issues
♦ Shopping
♦ Comedy page
♦ And much, much more!
For those with chronic medical conditions, probably the most useful source of assistance is our Mental Fitness section. Here, you will gain access to working with me, your Life Coach, or Mr. J. Cody Smith, M.A., RMHCI, Counselor; these two roles are similar yet very different. Life coaching will take you from the place you find yourself now and help drive you forward, working with your medical condition, to leading a productive and fulfilling life. Counseling provides your traditional approach to dealing with the feelings you are experiencing with your medical condition, looking at where they come from, and how to get past them. Both of these services are provided over the phone from the comfort of your home, for your convenience.
Remember, Life Beyond the Pain is your home, so come in, browse and take advantage of all that this site has to offer you while you deal with your medical condition.
